GOING ON A VACATION WITH YOUR DOG

Owning and loving a pet is one of the most rewarding things you can do in your life. The love you give to your pet, especially a dog is a very satisfying experience. Dogs are loyal and most of the time they will love you back unconditionally. That is why most emotional support animals are dogs.

If you will take your dog on a vacation, you should consider the following.

1.YOUR DOG SHOULD BE VACCINATED – Vaccines for canine parvovirus, canine hepatitis, and rabies are considered core vaccines. Some vacation sites require these vaccines so be sure to check with your travel agents.

2. YOUR DOG IS HEALTHY ENOUGH TO GO ON THE TRIP – This will ensure that you and your dog will enjoy your activities during your vacation.

3.ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH SUPPLIES FOR THE NEEDS OF YOUR DOG – Bring your dog’s regular food, and medicine and make sure to give it to them as you regularly do. Remember to bring bottled water and a travel bowl so that your dog has plenty of fresh, clean water on the trip. If you’re taking a road trip stop often for pee and water breaks.

4.YOUR DOG HAS NO FLEAS – A scratching dog during a trip is not a good sight for other travellers.

5.YOU MAY WANT TO BATHE YOUR DOG ONE DAY BEFORE THE VACATION – A smelly dog is not something you want to travel with. You can bathe your dog every two to three months unless they seem to be dirty.

As much as possible, avoid leaving your dog alone in the house for more than 1 day. They can get very anxious and will bark uncontrollably. This will disturb your neighbors.

Once a dog inhibits a sudden change in its life such as losing its owner, they may tend to have symptoms of depression causing them to change their eating habits and eat significantly less as well as sleeping for longer periods of time. This can shorten the life of the dog and presumably end up killing it if not properly cared for.
